PM Modi Meets Fiji PM Sitiveni Rabuka to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

PM Rabuka, who arrived in the capital on Sunday for a three-day visit, was received by Union Minister of State for Education and Development of the Northeastern Region, Sukanta Majumdar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met his Fijian counterpart, Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka, in New Delhi as part of the latter’s official visit to India aimed at deepening cooperation across multiple sectors.

PM Rabuka, who arrived in the capital on Sunday for a three-day visit, was received by Union Minister of State for Education and Development of the Northeastern Region, Sukanta Majumdar. This marks Rabuka’s first visit to India in his current role as Prime Minister.

Ahead of his meeting with PM Modi, Rabuka held discussions with Union Health Minister JP Nadda on strengthening collaboration in healthcare. Rabuka was accompanied by Fiji’s Minister of Health and Medical Services, Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu, and senior officials.

Sharing details of the meeting, Nadda posted on X, “Met with the Prime Minister of Fiji, Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka, in New Delhi today as part of our ‘Know BJP’ initiative. Our discussions focused on party-to-party relations, India’s development journey, and enhancing healthcare cooperation. Looking forward to deepening our partnership for the mutual benefit of both nations.”

Later today, PM Modi and PM Rabuka are expected to hold formal talks, followed by a lunch hosted in honour of the visiting leader. Rabuka is also scheduled to call on President Droupadi Murmu during his stay.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Fijian Prime Minister will deliver a lecture titled “Ocean of Peace” at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) in New Delhi, highlighting the importance of the Indo-Pacific partnership.
